Ti-4Al-3Mo-1V is a heat-treatable α+β titanium alloy, which combines good formability in the solution-treated state and the ability to achieve a peak strength of 180~200 ksi after aging. The high strength and high toughness of Ti-4Al-3Mo-1V (Ti-4331) titanium alloy are key factors for its widespread application in aerospace, military, and industrial fields.
This alloy is primarily supplied in forms such as thin plates, strips, and sheets. The processing and welding properties of Ti-4Al-3Mo-1V alloy are similar to those of Ti-6Al-4V.
Industrial Grade: 4Al-3Mo1V Titanium Alloy. Other grades include Ti 4V-3Mo-1V, C-115MoV, RS 115, MST431.

Heat Treatment
• Annealing: 1250°F, hold for 2 hours.
• Stress Relief Annealing: 9001100°F, hold for 0.58 hours.
Solution Treatment
• Thin plates can be quenched by furnace cooling or spray quenching using a steel plate leveling machine: 16801650°F, hold for 1030 minutes, water quench.
• Thin plates can also be heated by resistance heating: 16301650°F, hold for 2.55 minutes, water quench.
• Aging: 910940°F, hold for 618 hours.
In research studies on the effects of heat treatment variations on the key properties of this alloy used in supersonic aircraft, extensive time-temperature cycle data was studied, leading to the following three optimal heat treatment processes:
• High Strength: 1875°F, hold for 30 minutes, air cool + 1725°F, hold for 30 minutes, water quench + 1050°F, hold for 8 hours, air cool.
• High Toughness: 1875°F, hold for 30 minutes, air cool + 1725°F, hold for 30 minutes, water quench + 1150°F, hold for 8 hours, air cool.
• Good Toughness and Formability: 1725°F, hold for 30 minutes, air cool + 1050°F, hold for 8 hours, air cool.
